Lemonade (23x24cm)

"Lemonade came about while I was taking a pottery course. In pottery I learned very early on that I needed to release all expectations of how the final item will turn out. I could control the shape and form of my piece but when it came to glazing, anything could happen. At first I was so frustrated with the process, everything was turning out to be the opposite of what I expected. But to my surprise I started to embrace the unknown and to just trust that it may not turn out how I imagined, but there is beauty in it nevertheless. It taught me to be patient and to trust the process most of all. 
 
So one day when I got home from pottery, I just went for it. I started drawing different shapes that looked a bit of a mess initially but I forced myself to carry on and trust it would work out. Once I selected the colours for it, I started to fill out the overlapping shapes with the thread and see what would happen. 
 
I am so happy I persevered, Lemonade is a great reminder to me that I just need to trust myself and things will work out as they should."
